Making Of and Deleted Scenes

An infinity happened behind the cameras. One night as we prepared to shoot a sequence with lots of fire at the semi-abandoned São João Sugar Mill, I went to grab a lighter, away from the rest of the crew. The only lights were flashlights and spots. And I was naked, body covered in latex and black checkered paint. Out of nowhere, more flashlight beams hit my face and shouts of Freeze! and Get on the ground! I lie down and several armed, tense cops arrive. I start screaming: It's a movie! We're making a movie! They seem to half-believe what I'm saying and tell me to stand up. I explain to some while others head toward my crew. And with my crew were five gallons of gasoline we were going to use to set fire to piles and piles of tires and abandoned car carcasses. As I walked with the cops, one of them said awkwardly "Man, put some clothes on!" In the end they were pretty chill and, to our surprise, didn't care about the gasoline. We made a blaze with cars exploding unexpectedly and our production assistant screaming in panic. The cinematography with all that real firelight came out excellent. Two days later we were stopped on the road by other cops, who had just heard at the station about the naked guy from the shoot. We laughed and swapped ideas about better body paints for scenes like that. In total we had little making-of footage, because our crew was completely bare-bones and we couldn't afford someone just for behind-the-scenes. Everyone there had a function, and what was shot as extra was very little. That's why what I'll post here will be a mix of behind-the-scenes and deleted scenes.
